COTTON

Cotton is one of the best known and most widely used fibres for textiles. Cotton is durable, renewable and biodegradable, which makes it an excellent choice as an organic fiber throughout the product's life cycle. Most chemical fibres are petroleum-based, which means they come from non-renewable resources. Cotton is very heat resistant and does not require excessive amounts of water during the production process.
While synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester go through a long and complicated process before reaching the consumer, cotton goes through a simple one. An extremely versatile fiber, cotton can be made into a wide range of fabrics: denim, flannel, T-shirt, muslin, organdy, percale, twill and velvet, among others. It can be used alone or mixed with other fibers such as polyester, to improve durability, and elastane to make stretch fabrics, such as in stretch jeans.
